The system is this: Operating System: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20220214 KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.90.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.16.5-1-default (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × Intel® Core™ i7-10700 CPU @ 2.90GHz Memory: 31.3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: llvmpipe I recently upgraded the nvidia drivers from the ..G05-470 level to the ...G06-510 level. For the first time on this machine, that has allowed me to load Plasma in Wayland. Sort of, anyway. It's marginally usable but among other things there seems to be something wrong with full-blooded compositing and a number of the Desktop Effects aren't available. "Wobbly Windows" for example. What I don't understand is this. The output of <rpm -qa | grep nvidia> is:
libnvidia-egl-wayland-devel-1.1.9-1.1.x86_64 nvidia-gfxG06-kmp-default-510.47.03_k5.16.2_1-4.3.x86_64 kernel-firmware-nvidia-20220119-1.1.noarch nvidia-glG06-510.47.03-4.2.x86_64 libnvidia-egl-wayland1-1.1.9-1.1.x86_64 nvidia-computeG06-510.47.03-4.2.x86_64 x11-video-nvidiaG06-510.47.03-4.2.x86_64
.... which confirms that nvidia 510.47.03 is installed and loaded, whereas the output of <inxi -G> is
Device-1: NVIDIA TU117 [GeForce GTX 1650] driver: nvidia v: 470.103.01 Device-2: Logitech Webcam C930e type: USB driver: snd-usb-audio,uvcvideo Display: wayland server: SUSE LINUX 1.21.1.3 driver: loaded: modesetting, nouveau unloaded: fbdev, vesa failed: nvidia resolution: 3344x1881~60Hz OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 13.0.1 256 bits) v: 4.5 Mesa 21.3.6
.... which appears to be saying that the nvidia driver is still 470.103.01 I assume this matters, but diagnosing the apparent anomaly is well beyond my capability. Can anyone help???? -- Robin K Wellington "Harbour City" New Zealand
