Dear Tumbleweed users and hackers,
Week 19 is coming to an end - and it was a week packed with snapshots: A total of 6 snapshots has been published this week (0502, 0505, 0506, 0507, 0508 and 0509). And there are some changes that had been long
awaited. So let's get straight to it: * Linux kernel 5.0.10, 5.0.11
They work fine
* GNOME 3.32.1 (we skipped 3.32.0) * Mozilla Firefox 66.0.4 (fixing the extensions certificate chain)
8 Ghostscript 9.27
* Squid 4.7 * KDE Plasma 5.15.5
The next snapshot to come (0510) will be the first to make use of GCC9 libraries. GCC9 is so far only providing the standard libraries, but is not yet used as the default compiler. This switch will happen somewhen in the not too distant future. Other upcoming changes
include: * Systemd 242 * Qt 5.13 (once the final release is out) * QEmu 4.0 * Libvirt 5.3.0 * Wireshark 3.0 * Linux kernel 5.0.13
No 5.0.12 ?
When will we get 5.1.0 ?
I ask, because on TW I "just" get 5.0
$ uname -a Linux lx09 5.0.11-1-default #1 SMP Thu May 2 10:46:32 UTC 2019 (07c5318) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ rpm -qa | grep ^kernel | sort kernel-default-5.0.11-1.3.x86_64 kernel-default-devel-5.0.11-1.3.x86_64 kernel-devel-5.0.11-1.3.noarch kernel-firmware-20190409-1.1.noarch kernel-macros-5.0.11-1.3.noarch kernel-syms-5.0.11-1.3.x86_64
but on Leap-15.0 I get this:
$ uname -a Linux tux 4.12.14-lp150.12.58-default #1 SMP Mon Apr 1 15:20:46 UTC 2019 (58fcc15) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ rpm -qa | grep ^kernel | sort kernel-default-4.12.14-lp150.12.58.1.x86_64 kernel-default-devel-4.12.14-lp150.12.58.1.x86_64 kernel-devel-4.12.14-lp150.12.58.1.noarch kernel-devel-5.0.11-0.1.noarch kernel-devel-5.0.9-0.1.noarch kernel-devel-5.1.0-0.1.noarch kernel-docs-4.12.14-lp150.12.58.1.noarch kernel-firmware-20190118-lp150.2.12.1.noarch kernel-macros-4.12.14-lp150.12.58.1.noarch kernel-source-4.12.14-lp150.12.58.1.noarch kernel-source-5.0.11-0.1.noarch kernel-source-5.0.9-0.1.noarch kernel-source-5.1.0-0.1.noarch
Why do I get kernel-5 packages on Leap-15.0, even including 5.1.0 and
This means you have some additional repos configured. Have a look at zypper lr -d
I just removed all the kernel-5 packages without complaints, so nothing seems to depend on them, and I certainly did not ask for them
# zypper ve
is clean (except for some Oracle packages I got from Oracle)
As usual, those changes will reach you when they are ready.
