Since the new kernel (3.2) in OS 12.2, I've been experiencing display blanking after about 10 minutes of inactivity. I've tried various methods of fixing this found in the forums and message list but they haven't worked. These included creating a new /etc/X11/Xorg.conf and adding scripts to the autostart folder in ~/.kde4.
When I boot into OS 12.1 or 11.4 this behavior doesn't exist. Another possibly related problem, when I try to select a screen-saver in KDEs "configure Desktop", it causes a crash. That is the only item that crashes (at least for me) in "Configure Desktop" and I do extensive modification.
Is there a way to tell the kernel not to blank?
Kernel version: 3.2.0-2-default (also occurs with desktop& failsafe)
Thanks for any ideas on the subject.

I am running 12.1 but with kernel 3.2.x (.9 at the moment) and found that even though I had screensaver disabled the screen would still blank after a period - until I did the following. This may not have been the real solution of course but you could at least try it. What I did was to set Dim Screen and Switch Off to 180 minutes when running under AC power in the POWER MANAGEMENT (Kickoff>System Settings). I am not using a laptop but a desktop and yet after doing this the blanking stopped. BC -- The vulgar crowd always is taken by appearances, and the world consists chiefly of the vulgar.
