... and rpm tells me that there's some file called /var/lib/gdm/.gvfs that I don't have permission to read or write to ... even though elsewise rpm works.
There's a few bugs hanging around here.
I occasionally see the same for /home/<user>/.gvfs, my guess is that something mounts it and forgets to umount it when done with it, issuing "umount /home/<user>/.gvfs" clears it.
