Have a look at the comments in /etc/auto.smb, maybe. It supports an autofs mechanism which works either with Kerberos or with statically stored user credentials.
I used that in the past quite successfully, but I haven't for a long time.
agreed, however it does not currently work on Tumbleweed: <https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1191543> Bug has been accepted, but there is no activity anymore. I solved it by rebuilding Leap 15.3's autofs package for Tumbleweed.
