*That* ship has sailed; by the looks of it, gcc11 is making its way into SLE15 and even SLE12. Not as default, but no one asked for that anyway.

Surely you can master update-alternatives priority such that 3.6 gets the higher ground? But that's also not really needed. I could easily live with #!/usr/bin/python3.10 in (my) programs, it's really just the python-blablamodules.
