It is really not nice, if a manual just gives useless directions. I want to change the background image that is used by Plymouth to a black background, showing the moving lights, to get rid of the awful over-sized chameleon icon, and the ugly green color. I am really wondering which manual you are reading then as that I have stored

And this is something that you either like or not. It is not a must to install the openSUSE branding for plymouth. There are quite a number of plymouth themes available on divers websites.
Is it possible somebody tells me the path to the image store directory? The theme itself is stored in the standard directory /usr/share/plymouth/themes
In this directory you will find three sub directories (details, openSUSE and text). And yes, you guessed right, the plymouth openSUSE theme is located in the openSUSE directory.
Of course just changing the stuff in this directory will not change anything with regards to the boot of the system. For this it would be required to regenerate the initrd.

plymouth --help
I thank you for this info.
I saw you wrote the script there. Permit me a few questions? (if i am able to figure out (with your help) how it is easily done, i will write a wiki page on it.)
Is plymouth used as login-manager screen also? (and if so, what do i have to do to make the login dialog box smaller, and the too big pw dots smaller, to a distinguished small sized textbox, with small fonts?)
No it is really KDM3, saw : # are we currently prompting for a password? prompt_active = 0;
How exactly do i make another theme active? (i did not find the 'theme_name' or whatever it is called that has to be changed.
'# mk initrd' is the command to save the changes?
My thanks for your input ;-)
