the rpm installs but does not record the install to the rpmdb and updating rpmdb fails to show the rpm. And it is not possible to uninstall the rpm, if it in fact ever really installs.
zypper -v in XX.rpm appears to install and will uninstall, but the rpmdb never reports the rpm as being installed.
Huh? That's impossible. Maybe the name in the database is different than what you expect; you can list them all sorted by date and see the last one.
I can prove it is not :)
If still missing, you know the drill: rebuild database. :-(
did that too, reinstalled, wash, rinse, do again, no solution.
rpm -qa --last | head did not reveal the install nor did rpm -qi XX.rpm, nor can rpm remove it.
zypper -v in XX.rpm appears to work but zypper se -si XX.rpm does not show install, yet zypper -v rm XX.rpm works but only if zypper does the install. Install with rpm -Uvh XX.rpm does not report completeion but finishes w/o error and "rpm -qi XX.rpm" lists the data but shows as not installed.
How weird...
Sigh. I know I don't /use/ TW for a reason... You live an interesting life instead :-)
you also don't use debian, makes for a DULL life instead :)
please do not make unfounded declarations about Tumbleweed usefulness.
I did not :-) You may be guessing what I might say, but I have not said it. Anyway, I have never said anything against its "usefulness", though. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.1 x86_64 at Telcontar)
