when updating more then 20 packages. and yes i do use btrfs with snapper, so this probably the root cause. still, without renicing, i'd get crappy performance because of the favorite D state. not that helpful. you know what happens on my laptop? right: freeze, while its hot.
henceforth i suggest that zypper runs at least rpm with a nice level of 19.
I reject that suggestion. If you have something that is IO-bound, should you not, at the _very least_ be setting IO priorities, not nudge process priorities with nicing requests. That's like eating a fish (whole) with a toothpick.
