Problem latest Factory Build 6/14 2015 I tried an implementation of Samba with Windows AD and Freeradius. First of all. Samba should be upgraded to 4.2.3 on July 8 (Release Date). 4.2.2 has some nasty bugs, which seems to be fixed in the upcoming release.
Have you followed the approach how we maintain Samba for openSUSE in the openSUSE Build Service (OBS)? Please check https://en.opensuse.org/Samba and enhance it if anything is missing. openSUSE 13.1 and 13.2 both have gotten Samba 4.1.18 recently. Lists the issues you see in more details, please. Best is to reference bugzilla.samba.org (bso) IDs. Then we're able to consider and evaluate which further patches we need to merge into our 4.1 branches. The same approach applies to our 4.2 brach which is what we use to feed the OBS network:samba:STABLE / samba from. That's the source openSUSE Factory gets Samba from. As 4.2.2 is the current stable release there is nothing newer upstream we can update to. As said before if there are any particular bso issues you like to see merged into our current 4.2.2 based code please file OBS submit requests or point us to bso.
For Freeradius: Freeradius needs OpenSSL, which seems to be the latest version on the ISO (Thank you). But the corresponding libssl package is not up to date. It should be the same version as OpenSSL. Freeradius has a bug (again), which doesn't allow the daemon to start, if the libssl version is not exactly the same as the version, which was build against. I had to force downgrade to an older version. So Freeradius should be build against the newest libssl version which corresponds to the newest openSSL package.
Please consider to file a bug or even better enhance the Freeradius package source by implementing the missing build time check. Thanks, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team + SUSE Labs SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany
