That's why Marcus asked before. From Greg's description ("perf needs/wants it, as does other things that we need for suportability (usb device list, etc.)") it looks like we can have an exhaustive list of what needs it and it will not be very long? If that list could be provided we could better decide what's the best usability/security compromise. No idea about what "usb device list" really implies. But if it where only because of perf IMHO it would not make sense to mount debugfs *by default*.
