Various application such as media players (vlc, amarok, etc) are permanently paused (ie they do not unpause after notification sound completes) when various chat/notifications are triggered (steam, skype, etc) which is terrible default behavior. A friend who has recently been trying out tumbleweed ran into the problems so I dug into it and found out it can easily be fixed by disabling module-role-cork. My guess is this can be better configured to not make this happen while keeping the intent of module-role-cork and/or other applications are misusing something to trigger it, but either way the end result is terrible. I am not sure of any usefulness it provides as I have not missed anything since disabling. There are a fair amount of discussions on various forums out the symptoms so it seems a fair number of people run into the unwanted effects.
