I have a USB Brother MFC 7840W and their custom driver for Linux. ... A website showed a way to test it using lptest and that worked for a test page.
Where are what is causing it not to print? Sometimes it will wake up the display and says "Rec. Data" and then "Sleep".
Perhaps it is https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=559697

Thanks Johannes and Nicolaus; I did look at the BUG report and my model was not shown but I bet the problem is the same. I did install both Brother RPMs and Yast and cups seem happy. lsusb/hwinfo and lsmod show correct information. It does act like the system is working and usb is not handling the request. -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@comcast.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
