Hello maintainers.
I would like to see some dd with progress meter :) and found out that
You should just use ddrescue (gnu_ddrescue), also because it does not have the awkward conversion (conv=).
what do you mean?
Er, awkward options like count= (combined with bs=) which make you have to do convert byte offsets into sector-sized pieces,
They're not awkward if you know what they're used for. I started work at a company that paid a programmer to write a program to convert CNC data files for a customer. It took a LONG time to do the conversion often started in the evening to run over night. I wrote a script using dd to do the same thing and it did the conversion about 50 times faster turning a 50 minute process into a one minute process. It's all about using the correct tool for the job at hand. -- Ken linux since 1994 S.u.S.E./openSUSE since 1996 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
