Hi,
Any idea of the prefered way? I have several server where X is installed, but rarely used and I don't want them to have X lauched as default
I've just tested on my Virtual Machine with 12.1 RC2, using systemd and adding "3" to the GRUB menu (I mean while booting) booted the 3rd runlevel. I have network, no X and.. Hmm everything's fine.
Same with me in a VM. When I type 3 in the boot menu the system does not start the xdm service. So I don't get the KDE login menu, only the console login prompt. # rckdm start does not work, nor # systemctl start kdm.service but # systemctl start xdm.service works and I get the KDE login screen. So if you don't want the xdm.service to be started you can disable it with: # systemctl disable xdm.service I assume it is enabled by default. -- fr.gr.
