An obvious solution is to add a desktop environment name to the package's name such as prefixing all KDE apps with "kde-" or simple "k". But this is also confusing and may require much of work as renaming is not an easy task.
So are there any ideas on how to organize this better?
Wouldn't simple "tags" be better than RPM groups? Then you could filter on things like "Audio", "Video", "GTK", "GNOME"!, "KDE", "Qt", "Browser", "Personal Organisation", OSS, non-OSS etc? By sorting & filtering on more than one tag, you could view for example, Audio apps in sub-sections depending on libraries. Desktop evironments could by default promote applications that "fit" best, in an application browser.
