This snapshot brought us the new 'role based' installation mode for desktop selection, which means GNOME and KDE a 'prominent' on the screen and all others are below 'custom' and 'ticking' the right checkbox for any other DE to be installed. I'd like to ask you to give this new implementation a go and report back any potential issues you have with it.
Tried two days ago. Took many hours to recover. I normally choose "minimal X", which no longer exists. I went into detailed package selection to find IceWM and various Xorg packages I figured to have enough dependencies to equate to minimal X. Boy was I wrong. No zypper. Most expected cmdline utilities missing: iproute, iputils, less, net-tools, util-linux, rpcbind, which, wicked, and thus no network == No fun to fix.
Maybe Custom needs to make sure at least the base pattern gets installed.
I'd recommend that custom makes sure "Enhanced Base" will be installed but it should be deselectable from the "Other" screen. The base pattern will be very basic and will be missing things that almost all users want unless they are configuring many machines remotely with something like salt. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B
