Gad! We couldn't get along without rdiff-backup! We use it for daily backups of dozens of Leap desktops and servers, handing hundreds of terabytes of data. Loosing it would cause a major disruption for us. I'm slightly curious why you and / or Philippe are not stepping up to maintain it, if it is *that* important ;-)
You make an excellent point, Stefan. I've been using SuSE professionally since version 5.2, maybe it's time to give something back? I don't know if I have the required skill set, but I'll start poking around.
New version is in obs://Archiving
I'd suggest to do extensive tests and also save a snapshot of your current backup set before starting to use this with your old backup sets, I already have found (and hopefully fixed) two errors today ;-)
Have fun,
