Just a note for the developers who put together, for example, the installation group of files and those who do KDE files which contain references to cities of the world for setting time zones and similar.
The capital of Australia is CANBERRA, repeat Canberra, and not, say, Sydney or Melbourne (on the East coast).
I have yet to see Canberra shown anywhere in the list of cities re time zones, or - when installing oS - the one of the cities one sees listed is Sydney when selecting the time zone.
OK, Sydney is a city in the state of New South Wales but it is NOT the Capital of Australia.
Thank you for listening.
BC This issue has been raised several times on the timezone mailing list, tz@iana.org. The timezone people use an algorithm to choose the largest city in a timezone in a country. Apparently Canberra is not the largest city in the timezone it lies in.
But as we all know, size does NOT matter - it's what it does that matters. And here in Australia this 'size' runs the country :-) .
