Therefore I would like to suggest that you build the newest HPLIP for openSUSE 11.0, 11.1, and factory simply in your home project.
Already done :-)
Great! Many Thanks!
The question only is where to announce that there is a newer build for hplip ?
Your packages are the second ones in the list when searching for "hplip" on http://software.opensuse.org/search I guess our users will find them ;-)
I will definitely place a message on the factory mailing list, but I assume that users of the previous openSUSE versions will not read this mailing list
If you like post a message on the general opensuse@opensuse.org list. But I would like to recommend to be careful with the text in such an announcement regarding support, maintenance, warranty, and liability compare http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2008-09/msg00638.html For background information you may have a look at https://lists.linux-foundation.org/pipermail/lf_driver_backport/2008-Februar... For the current newest HPLIP I think there might be in particular problems with Qt4 (via python-qt4) when it runs in openSUSE 11.0 (and perhaps also in 11.1) because Qt4 is now the default (before it was Qt3 via python-qt). But one can force that it is built with Qt3 via a configure option setting.
