That is correct. nv may be used then, but as it's quite old it probably doesn't work in this case either.

I concur. There's the other problem that Mesa will not work when the proprietary nvidia driver is installed (because nvidia replaces some libraries, libglx and libGL in particular, with its own incompatible versions, so not even Mesa's software OpenGL renderer will work. In other words, OpenGL will be broken completely unless you uninstall nvidia, which in turn will not allow desktops like Plasma or GNOME to even start, and of course every other application that uses OpenGL. This may be solvable too by heavy tricks, but definitely not easily.
