After an update yesterday I'm unexpectedly back to the KDE4 konsole application. Looking at the list of installed packages I see that the update pulled in konsole4-part:
S | Name | Type | Version | Arch | Repository --+---------------+-------------+-------------+--------+--------------- i | konsole | package | 15.04.1-1.1 | x86_64 | Tumbleweed-OSS i | konsole-part | package | 15.04.1-1.1 | x86_64 | Tumbleweed-OSS i | konsole4-part | package | 4.14.3-1.1 | x86_64 | Tumbleweed-OSS i | Konsole | application | | noarch | Tumbleweed-OSS
There were no conflicts and the installation verifies OK, but it seems that konsole-part and konsole4-part shouldn't be able to be installed at the same time?
yes they should!
Correct. That is also the reason why the different package names. At the current moment we still have some KDE4 based applications that require the konsole-part files in order to provide full functionality. As that these applications can not use the KF5 based konsole-part, we created the konsole4- part which is based on the latest KDE4 konsole version (which is 4.14.3). The files for the KDE4 version is installed in different locations and therefore there are no conflicts. Not all users however would have both installed. If you do not use any KDE4 based application, then it could be that konsole4-part is not installed.
