I have never seen any coresump from star, if you really have problems why didn't you send a bugreport? But the usual reaction on software probplems is to upgrade to the latest version first. Why didn't you do that?
Been that way for about 3-4 years... but given how SUSE hasn't seen an update for 5, that's not surprising.
