This issue affects several packages, but for the purposes of this email I'll take "perl-Parse-CPAN-Meta" as an example. According to "corelist", Parse::CPAN::Meta has been in core since Perl v5.10.1. Theoretically, that means this package should not be needed in any recent openSUSE distro (13.2, Leap, etc. - even SLE11-SP3 has 5.10.1). And indeed the "perl" package in all of these distros obsoletes this package. However, in some of the distros the perl.spec file is missing the "Provide: perl-Parse-CPAN-Meta" line: openSUSE 13.2, perl package 5.20.1 (obsoletes perl-Parse-CPAN-Meta, but does not provide it) openSUSE Leap 42.1, perl package 5.18.2 (obsoletes perl-Parse-CPAN-Meta, but does not provide it) openSUSE Factory, perl package (provides *and* obsoletes) Is there a reason the "Provides: perl-Parse-CPAN-Meta" line is missing in 13.2 and Leap?
