Hi,
I considering to upgrade my 42.3 setup. Wonder is it need to make the step with /var/cache on btrfs before zypper dup? https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:System_upgrade
You upgrade from 42.3, please refer to the comment on the wiki: "Note: If the root file system is not Btrfs or you're upgrading from 42.2 or later version, then skip this section and continue to step 4."
This section deals with space issues, if your /var or /var/cache is large enough then this hardly is an issue.
This is less about the size of your /var/cache, but more to do with the fact that in 42.3 /var/cache was part of the / partition which means its contents were included in each snapshot, given /var/cache includes things like every rpm you have downloaded to install on a system during an upgrade and lots of other content that will likely change between each snapshot it will likely make your snapshots much bigger then they need to be over time, so follow the instructions to move it to a separate subvolume and then its contents will no longer be part of snapshots. P.S. this question would have probably been better asked on the opensuse-support mailing list and its more of an upgrade question then a development one. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
