I currently can't see a disadvantage of using this one thus unless someone could actually see one I'd go the same way.
Actually we made binutils enable "relro" by default in Factory yesterday or so. So all binaries get it now, unless explicitly using -z norelro. So far it seems not to have adverse effects. (The -z now option, also referenced above, does have performance impacts and will likely just be added to some specific binaries.)
