Do you know about Linda's use cases to issue such a definitive statement? While I have clashed with Linda in former times, this looks rather valid from a server admin perspective. I have lots of (rather large big iron) customers who have even more specific filesystem partitioning requirements for very good reasons, backed up by real-life use cases. Driven mostly by two requirements "put anything that could fill up and disturb other services on one file system" and "share common data via net file system (meaning mostly EMC or NetApp appliances, with loads of special performance configurations for themselves.)"
