Seriously though, some people just don't think about the consequences of using the official non-rpm package from NVIDIA.
And some even mix that one with already installed NVIDIA RPMs. What happens is that this installer moves the existing files of the RPMs to some backup directory before installing his own X stack. Guess what happens if you then uninstall the RPMs and afterwards run nvidia-uninstall. The files of the RPMs are restored but no longer belong to any package. This is what exactly happened in this case. Therefore I suggested to reinstall the RPMs and unistall them immediately again.
