Has anyone had any success with external hard drives? I have a Maxtor USB drive I borrowed from school so that I can re-arrange my hard drive on my computer. SuSE finds it no problem but as soon as I try to use it I am told that I can enter the folder. I can read it in Knoppix fine but not write to it and of course wit works fine in Doze. Any suggestions as to what I need to do or what I should be looking at? Paul -- De Omnibus Dubitandum

This sounds like a permissions problem to me: mount /dev/foo -o defaults /somewhere should work just fine, Paul -- and certainly allow you to write to the drive. -- Thomas Adam ===== "The Linux Weekend Mechanic" -- http://linuxgazette.net "TAG Editor" -- http://linuxgazette.net "<shrug> We'll just save up your sins, Thomas, and punish you for all of them at once when you get better.
