Hi all, I have an old Suse 7.3 pro box acting as a print server but now I need to multi-home this box, it has a single card which will need to utilise two IP addresses - any hints. I've done this before with RedHat but have lost the details! Ta much Alan
/sbin/ifconfig eth0:0 ip.ip.ip.ip mask.mask.mask.mask /sbin/ifconfig eth0:1 ip.ip.ip.ip mask.mask.mask.mask And on it goes.. == Kind Regards, Kyle Williamson - Solent Educational Ltd Tel: (023) 80 843189 Fax: (023) 80 848715 kyle@solented.co.uk / http://www.solented.co.uk .~. /V\ L I N U X // \\ > Don't fear the penguin < /( )\ ^^-^^ -----Original Message----- From: Alan Harris [mailto:alanh@bryngwyn.carmarthen.sch.uk] Sent: 03 March 2004 11:25 To: suse-linux-uk-schools@suse.com Subject: [suse-linux-uk-schools] Multihoming in SuSE 7.3 Hi all, I have an old Suse 7.3 pro box acting as a print server but now I need to multi-home this box, it has a single card which will need to utilise two IP addresses - any hints. Altough YAST might have a better tool for doing it. Hiya, From CLI - yast System Administration >> Network configuration >> Network base configuration 'Create an additional network' put in your details, then set the device as 'eth0:1' Simple as that :) SuSE 7.3 for network config is a bit weird, i nthe fact it configures in it's rc scripts... RedHat simply go /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0:1 and put i nteh details :) Best regards, Steve Wright EliteUKServe EMail: steve.wright@eliteukserve.net Tel: +44 (0) 870 250 7611 On Wednesday 03 March 2004 11:24, Alan Harris wrote:
