I had thought it was because my screen wasn't directly supported, so I have selected VESA and the offered colour depth and desktop size and of course it does work initially.

I have trawled through the books and all the HOWTO's that I thought were relevant, but I can't find anything to help. I have tried the laptop with both RedHat and Mandrake - and it works fine in both Gnome and KDE.

I would appreciate any direct help, or pointers to documentation that may solve the problem for me.
