The only complaint I have about anykind of Alevel/degree in computing is the trend to concentrate on things like binary logic, CPU architecture, BCD, how capacitance affects phase voltage, things which don't make any difference to how a good a technician you are. Not that that will stop me finishing my degree..... Regards, Robb Bloomfield

What A-Level computing course does capacitance affecting voltage phases? In fact, the A-Level computing course I did (AEB) didn't have much of the interesting stuff at all. It was all data-flow diagrams, list types, etc. Dull things that probably have no relevance to technicians :-) Dan - -- dankolb@ox.compsoc.net - --I reserve the right to be completely wrong about any comments or opinions expressed; don't trust everything you read above-- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP 6.5.8 iQA/AwUBO+LAQpdDUnce+EgsEQL6zgCgn+Ip4cu9CP0PHqGrKCnfoC4Tjl8AoK+U 9m5QsOHarc85Qw2uGX2HMOHL =m/IH -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

None of them, I was referring to degrees. My A level also had lots on data types.... i now hate arrays, linked lists, etc etc.. Robb

Nor any relevance to productive computing either. The only flow diagrams I have drawn was while teaching O, A & (Australian) TEE computing, because the syllabus required it, although I have once or twice drawn one when debugging something very nasty. But if I ever move into management I expect I'll be drawing lots of flow diagrams so as to occupy all that empty time between arriving at work and leaving work. -- Christopher Dawkins, Felsted School, Dunmow, Essex CM6 3JG 01371-820527 or 07798 636725 cchd@felsted.essex.sch.uk
