Hi, to one and all I'm Steve Phillips and I run the IT stuff at Central Technology College in Gloucester. At the risk of upsetting the group, I must confess to being a Novell / Microsoft person. This is by no means a fixed situation as I believe in looking at all available technologies. However, my first reaction to SuSe 6.4 is probably not as enthusiastic as most of you would like. What I would like Linux to do is as follows. Boot to a GUI Enable connectivity to a Novell server using only IPX - Not TCP/IP Run JUST an Office suite, a web browser and possibly some extra educational software ie not install all the thousands of little apps and games Authenticate logins from a server (at the moment non-linux) - I don't want to set-up 700+ users on every workstation Whilst I can see that the GUI boot is easy enough, most of the other seems at best laborious and maybe even not possible. This may have sounded negative but I AM keen to give it a try. My only reservation is the time that it may take may outweigh the advantages. Regards
