Hi All: I have successfully set up Squid on our system and it is working very well. However, at present the school intranet (not to the outside world just yet) is on another server and kids go through the proxy to get to it. I am now trying to have Apache on the same Linux box so that I can transfer the html files to the Linux box and have both the intra and internet on the same machine. It is proving troublesome though. I have Apache running but it seems to interfere with Squid (I am doing something wrong). If it is possible to have them both working, can someone let me know. Also, if someone could send me an example httpd.conf file it would be much appreciated. I have some eager year 12 students who are working on the "new" site before we go into the outside world and the network manager does not want them to have access to the existing web server as it is his Win 2000 machine. I would like to give them access to the gci and htdocs bin so that they can work on it through a win 95 workstation anywhere in the school. Additional information will be provided if need be. Cheers, Paul
You don't say which distro you are using. Squid and Apache can normally work together with no conflicts. Under SuSE the default setup for a server is for both. I think it does depend partly how they are configured. What ports etc have you used for squid, and how did you install - source, rpm tarball etc.? ____________________________________ Giles Nunn - Network Manager Carms Schools ICT Development Centre Tel: +44 01239 710662 Fax: 710985 ____________________________________ On Thu, 28 Sep 2000, ptaylor wrote:
