having not used XP I don't really follow what you are asking.... If it is 'can you run a graphical application as another user' the answer is yes, but whoever 'owns' the display has to give them permission to use it. I frequently use this to jump to another user a check (graphical) email. xhost +localhost su <other-user> <mail-app> exit xhost -localhost Bear in mind this is a nasty way to do the permissions. Between the xhost + & -, ANY user on the local machine can write to the display or read the mouse/keyboard. A better way is to use a 'magic-cookie', but I haven't worked that out yet... Simon Wood
