[opensuse-edu] Howto Modify Live CD
I would like to know how to modify the current Live CD to password the root account and limit it to one logon. I need to set it up to boot into a wireless network. This is on some new laptops where I am not permitted to make changes to the HDD installation (which is a plain XP install with no apps). The center director wants me to build a CD where they can access the Internet and have the same type of environment they do via the LTSP OpenSuse EDU installation in the building on the dumb terminals. Thoughts? Comments? Thanks in advance! Using LiveCD in production is not advisable, it is just meant for testing and installation. Why not just set up LTSP server and use that? LTSP does not require any modification to hard disks. You can also dd the live DVD iso to 4G USB stick to use, root password can be given on the stick, this is not very reliable either so only recommended for testing and installation. Best thing to do is install Linux on one partition on the laptops, educate the director that it is quite safe and will not damage the hardware. If you still wish to modify the iso, check out kiwi cookbook from http://kiwi.berlios.de also get the current configuration we are using from svn: svn co https://opensuse-edu.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/opensuse-edu opensuse-edu Or the easier way: http://susestudio.com Cheers -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-edu+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-edu+help@opensuse.org
