Hi Folks, I've just loaded SuSE 7.2 on a Thinkpad - fine (except sound and modem). question, how do I get to the BIOS to change the settings? F2, esc etc. don't seem to do the trick. Needless to say I have no manual so I can't RTFM! -- Best wishes, Derek Harding, (BA MIAP) ICT & Network Manager hardingd@warlingham.surrey.sch.uk

One thing to point out here is that, according to the RedHat list, there is a serious issue with the temporature sensors on the Thinkpad, wher the Lm-sensor package fries the eproms on Thinkpads. I assume that Lm-sensors is not limited to the RH dists. Gary On Tuesday 17 July 2001 1:51 pm, ICT & Network Manager wrote:

On mine you hit F1 during initial boot after power on (this does not work for warm boots - only for cold ones). You probably want to look at the linux-thinkpad list ----- The Linux ThinkPad mailing list ----- The linux-thinkpad mailing list home page is at: http://www.bm-soft.com/~bm/tp_mailing.html Nigel.

Hi, Perhaps I can chime in?? I doubt very much whether changing the settings in your BIOS will rectify your error. Since you don't specify the kind of error your are getting, I am willing to bet that it is something to do with the IRQ's not being grabbed. In any case, this error can be solved simply by running "sax" from the command-line. If not, you might have to edit "/etc/conf.modules" manually, however this file can be daunting.
