I think we should create new packages in our OBS Education Repository and initially import the sources of the above packages. Naming Question: 1) xfce4-desktop-branding-openSUSE-Education 2) xfce4-desktop-branding-Education What name do you prefer? Or the edu project can ask for permission to use the marks outside of the automatic guidelines. If you'd like to rework the packages, feel free - but if this is something being forced for the guidelines and you don't have the desire to rebrand, feel free to ask. I think there's a very good chance we'd grant the project permission to use the openSUSE marks. Thanks for bringing this up! Looks like we've more options than one :-)

I'm fine with starting our own branding - and if we get no success with that until.... (one month?), we can ask to use the official branding. ;-) What do others think? Yes, of course. It was never the intent to restrict use of the marks from things like the openSUSE Education Project - but some use cases should be reviewed.

It's up to you - but, I do feel good about the Education Project's odds of being given permission. :-) Best, Zonker -- Joe 'Zonker' Brockmeier <jzb@zonker.net> openSUSE Community Manager: http://zonker.opensuse.org Blogs: http://blogs.zdnet.com/community | http://www.dissociatedpress.net Twitter: jzb | Identica: jzb http://identi.ca/group/opensuse/members -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-edu+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-edu+help@opensuse.org

I have to see what is included. I just extracted filenames from packages that I have installed. I'm sure that general idea is to keep openSUSE base and add Education where appropriate, but for that we have to see files/images first. As long as base that runs machine is openSUSE installation, Edu branding should be balanced. For instance desktop login splash can show additional Edu logo, but it should not replace openSUSE one, or to create whole new screen.
