hi all just to make a change from the current thread on the mailing list, to be renamed fensystems-linux-schools-marketing :-) i am currently investigating offering a training course to be combined with meeting/conference, all at cost, maybe over two/three days at a UK university. i am concious that UKUUG already have the summer conference, which isnt appropriate for schools,(more users than developers). so some thoughts please: - possible dates, July seems good? - what training, i have some great material for schools from the US that i'd love to use as the basis for teaching. Workshops for beginners, intermediates, advanced seem also possible ? - also to find the opportinity for further discussions - what is the role of the commercial companies. given the debate during this week, we need to thing about the role of the commercial companies, small or large and the way in which the membership can be widened. regards MAlc -- --------------------------------------- Malcolm Herbert Red Hat Europe t: +44 1483 734955 m: +44 7720 079845 --------------------------------------
This is a useful and practical idea. On Sun, 18 Mar 2001, Malcolm Herbert wrote:

I agree. It is vital that we sort this and the relationship to UKUUG otherwise such inititatives (and indeed all initiatives coming from the commercial members) will be seen as suspect. -- Roger Whittaker SuSE Linux Ltd The Kinetic Centre Theobald Street Borehamwood Herts WD6 4PJ ---------------------- 020 8387 1482 ---------------------- roger@suse-linux.co.uk ----------------------
