Slight mistake - the it-help list is called tech-help, which means to
subscribe email tech-help-request@lists.centralmanclc.com.
I wouldn't mind the mistake, but it's my list (server). How embarrassing...

Hi Suneil
I'm not in London, however I would like to help where I can. You should
also find it useful to join these mailing lists:
suse-linux-uk-schools - this is very Linux focused, although not purely
SuSE Linux, and has a number of people on it that are experts in thin
client technology (terminal server equivalence). To subscribe, send a
blank email to suse-linux-uk-schools-subscribe@suse.com
it-help - this is a new list for peer support for IT people in schools
and related organisations in the UK. It does not have a specific Linux
focus, but may be useful for more general ICT issues for yourself and
any technical staff in your school. To subscribe, send an email with the
subject <subscribe> to it-help-request@lists.centralmanclc.com

I'm sending this message on to the schoolforge-discuss mailing list. We
have subscribers from all around the world, which of course includes the
UK. I fully expect that you'll receive many suggestions on how to
proceed. In the meantime, here are the websites of some Linux user
groups
(LUGs) in London:
http://www.eastlondon.lug.org.uk/
http://www.lonix.org.uk/tnet-cgi/Lonix
http://gllug.linux.co.uk/
http://www.sl.lug.org.uk/
LUGs are often great resources for getting assistance with installing
and
maintaining open source/free software.

Hi Schoolforge I am the Head of an ICT Department in a Catholic School in London (St Mark's Catholic School). I would like to use more open source software. I would like to take windows off all the client machines the students use (over 200 PCs) and run OpenOffice, but can you advive how I could incorporate some windows applications into the solution? Are the ways of making the machine easily dual boot? We were thinking about terminal server technology
Is there a GNU/Linux educational consultancy we could talk to?
