SIMS inform us that they will not be developing their software for Linux because apparently there is no appropriate SQL server available (other than ORACLE). Does anyone know any different? Thanks Chris Weston

There are several SQL products available. mySQL and Hughes mSQL for a start. SIMS are market-driven and would convert if they thought there was money in it. But most Linux people would be horrified at paying the sort of money that SIMS charge. Our mean annual spend on database software is about 30 pounds. -- Christopher Dawkins, Felsted School, Dunmow, Essex CM6 3JG 01371-820527 or 07798 636725 cchd@felsted.essex.sch.uk
