[opensuse-edu] Status-Blogging :-)
Hi It's late again here in germany - but I want to share some details of my work on openSUSE-Education with you. I hope some information could be useful ;-) * Branched openSUSE_11.1 build target in OBS, as Factory/11.1 is splitted up now. * adapted READMEs to our new OBS layout * adapted content file of the add-on to the new format, so YaST can detect it again * Found an old bug in the solver, which prevents me from using scripts for creating the 11.1 add-on: currently the solver isn't able to handle whitespaces in directory names. So I have to walk through the generated packages.* files and remove lines containing whitespaces manually, re-zip them, re-generate checksums and re-sign everything. :-( bnc#450286 ) * fixed fbreader (just missing libexpat-devel) * trying to fix LabPlot (first some gcc-errors, now filelist) * fixing bibletime * preparing netbeans update * find and package missing perl-modules for koha (currently I'm at >30 new perl packages building in devel:languages:perl and see a light at the end of the tunnel). I will _aggregate all needed perl-packages into the education repository later. This way, everybody finds what he expects in "his" repo and we avoid double builds of the same source. * we've over 210 succeeded packages, but still 26 build failures. Any help is welcome! * packaged a first version of "scratch" (http://scratch.mit.edu/) - needs a small rework to use the already available Squeak package (I noticed to late, that this package already exists) * don't be surprised about the "images" repository in the education project. We already have a "_product:openSUSE-Education-Addon-dvd5-DVD-i586_x86_64" package now - and this package produces a "openSUSE-Education-Addon-dvd5-DVD-i586_x86_64.kiwi" file which can be used for building openSUSE-Education with one single kiwi call! (see http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/Product_Definition/Handling for details ) * after the discussion in the last meeting, I added all maintainers of the isv:hp:education project also as maintainers of the education project, so their fixes can be integrated directly in our sourcepackages. * cleaned up the "education" projects in OBS: now only "education" and "isv:hp:education" are listed as "real" projects. (beside the home projects - I've written emails to some people having interesting packages in their home projects - everybody on this list feel free to invite any OBS-user to join this list and the openSUSE-Education Team if you find interesting packages in his home-project :) * worked together with Peter Varkoly on a first set of Open School Server packages in the home:openschoolserver project. These packages will be the base for the Open School Server based on SLES 11. This includes the YaST-Module to setup the OSS, the Webfrontend and base-scripts as well as preconfigured Joomla, Moodle, openXchange and egroupware packages. Extis will give support for these packages, later. * tried to download the second Live-CD from anubisg1 - but it looks like the server doesn't like me... Andrea: I've setup a rsync-server on opensuse-education. Perhaps it's better if you can upload new ISO images yourself... :-) Account details later via PM * added a public rsync module, so people can also download our official repositories on www.opensuse-education.org via rsync. If we're making use of the update-channels for 11.0 and 11.1, this would perhaps be very useful. Just try something like "rsync -n edu-user@www.opensuse-education.org::download/" to check. With kind regards, Lars PS: rsync from OBS is still running, so I will finish the Beta2 Release for 11.1 tomorrow.
