It's ati rage mobility, not sure what ram it uses though I would hazard a guess at shared.

I tried 60Hz and 70Hz. I've also tried 800x600 @ 60Hz and 70Hz and 640x480 @ 60Hz

tried both. I can only try these if I do it from the install once the machine boots, when I try and run sax2 I get the blank screen again.

Login on a non-X user (ALT + F1 - 6) as root, and post back the XF86Config and I'll have a look. But no pormises.

Did you keep a copy of the config file which worked before?
