OSE Discussion structure - moving forward (was: Free as in speech ?)
Sidestepping the argument, what about the independent mailing list discussed at the meeting. I had thought after one week we would have one up and running?
See my earlier questions about hosting/etc - I agree, this is one of the first things we should do. Now that we have a write-up of the meeting (thanks Paul) I would like to post to some organisations (LWN, Seul), but I do not have anywhere to point them to ... ? An empty website with a single page with the write-up from the meeting could be a start ... maybe ? Perhaps Roger, it could be added to the SuSE schools pages ? Or I could host it on any of the sites I am involved with (Northants LUG, lug.org.uk), or maybe Malcolm to add it to ose.org.uk ? (I am assuming that osie.org.uk is just redirected to fensystems at the moment - is that correct ?)
it's not really appropriate for all the osie discussion.
I think the OSE lists need to now boil down to the core people interested in doing the work and running the server - so I would agree, we need our own list. It is great to have so many comments from people in general, but the people with an interest in doing the work need a focused list where we can discuss the raw details of what we want to do. I am sure that most people on the SuSE list don't care if we are OSE or OSIE or where the server is hosted - but these are things the admin team (as I guess it will become) have to decide on before we can move further.
We need several osie lists along the lines of:
Initially I would suggest just admin@ and then we can discuss the rest :-) Roger could you create us a temporary ose-admin list at suse.com? Failing that I could get us one on lug.org.uk (majordomo managed). Kevin. Northants LUG

osie.org.uk is currently just a placeholder domain - www.osie.org.uk is redirected to the old Fen Systems Resource Library (as being the most appropriate content I had available at the time should anyone mistakenly type the address in), but I haven't publicised the address www.osie.org.uk and so I'm not expecting anyone to visit it.

osie-general@lists.sourceforge.net is available *if* we want it. In much the same way that I registered osie.org.uk and osie.org so that they were definitely available if wanted, I have also created a project "osie" on SourceForge. Do we want to migrate to osie-general@lists.sourceforge.net (or osie-anything@lists.sourceforge.net)? Michael
I can't directly create such a list - they are done from our Oakland office and we don't run any lists from here. I'd rather it was done in some other way. On Tue, 20 Mar 2001 kevin.taylor@powerconv.alstom.com wrote:
