Run mozilla and try ls -l $HOME/.mozilla/$USER*/*/lock. OK, it's a PID symlink, but I think the idea is the same? Some applications just don't like multiple instances.

kill -9 $(cat /var/run/pid/pid.pid)
In many cases, you're better off using the shutdown script or pkill if you must be rude. (I know about killall, but that has different meanings in different places.)
Indeed, but you have to realise that using "pkill" kills processes by name. Using the above method is, umm, much more specific. When you say "killall", you actually mean "killall5". Cough. Cough.

Indeed.

Haven't actually read what this is all about (other than it's obviously about problems with KMail). I used KMail for a while but thought it was pretty lacking in features and usability. Now I just use Mozilla Mail and its great! :) Mozilla is a fabulous browser too (how did we ever live without tabs?). No, I mean killall on a system such as (yuk) Solaris 2.5

Hello once more folks, i'm having a little trouble archiving a large number of folders with one simple command & keeping that folder structure intact. I noticed in midnight commander you can do a folder distribution in a tar.gz format but it doesn't appear to perform anything. Gzip doesn't appear to do deal with folders according to the command line listing at least. :( Anyone out there with the knowledge? i'm still too much of a sith to understand these things! ;) ________________________________________________________________________ Want to chat instantly with your online friends?
