Hi Roger, Having tried installation 3 times now, I have received the following messages. It would also appear that this occurred on the first installation, but my assistant kindly continued the process without telling me! Is it possible that I have a defective CD-ROM? I believe that the HDD & RAM are okay as I am using a previously functioning win95 workstation, that did not do anything too bizarre in the past! :-) The KDE runs, but as mentioned I get errors when trying to run the GUI I want to use the SuSE version, but in the meantime I am installing a copy of Mandrake (that I bought for my home system but never got around to opening the box). The installation "appears" more flexible than SuSE, but you get far less for your money (in fact it cost abut £27+VAT for three disks) and is "apparently" slower to install (don't forget that I am using YaST1 for my SuSE installation) While that cooks, I'm off to read my Valentines cards and restraining orders. Many thanks Adrian Error messages follow An error occurred during installation/update Please go to the selection of packages (-> Start Installation) and check for lost packages /var/adm/inst-log/installation-1000211-1 25 installed 1 noted for installation with error Can not allocate memory (my note on the KBASE line) Unpacking of archive file failed on file /opt/kde/share/local/de/lc_messages/kcmsamba.mo var/log/config.bootup Kind Regards Adrian Wells _______________________________________ Systems Manager Sidcot School Oakridge Lane, Winscombe, Somerset BS25 1PD. We're wondering whether there is a problem with disk space. What size partitions were you installing to? Was there any warning about disk space at the start of the installation? As root, do an fdisk -l and send the output. Also do a df -h and let us see that too. On Mon, 14 Feb 2000, adrian.wells wrote:
