Can any body recommend me a multi-user web based SQL front-end. I need one to store pupil information, I'll need different access levels (e.g. read/write, read, no access) Any help will be much appreciated Marcus Birkin

Hi,
I *think* that an early version of "webmin" used to
support such a feature, but I don't know if it does
anymore.
Of course, I could always write you one using perl and
CGI if you so desire :-)

phpmyadmin is certainly web based but I don't know if it is multi-user. Nigel. -- Nigel Pauli - I.T. Manager St. John's School, Northwood, U.K. http://www.st-johns.org.uk/

I'm pretty sure it's not multi user, however you could probably set up several different instances of it with different users configured in the config.inc.php3 file and make sure that the users only have permissions to do what you want them to be able to do. Cheers -- Phil Driscoll

Do give it a go. I found it a lot of fun to learn as I was producing useful pages very, very quickly - some more useful than others, it must be said. Nigel -- Nigel Pauli - I.T. Manager St. John's School, Northwood, U.K. http://www.st-johns.org.uk/
The recent thread on SQL caused me to mull over the business of in service training for open source/free software technologies. I guess that at the moment there's just about none to be had, which, of course disadvantages our camp. I'd also guess that we have amongst us experts in a variety of areas, willing, and more than capable of running courses in their field of expertise. No doubt there are also those amongs us with a flair for organising venues etc. Anyway, if we can get some stuff off the ground, I'm happy to do php training! Cheers -- Phil Driscoll
