Hi We have a network of over 200 windows clients (95 & 98) which login using Samba to a Linux server based on Suse 8.1. We may need to add W2000 clients but we can't seem to get the same login structure working. Are there any issues using W2000 clients with a Samba server. NB we do not use encrypted passwords and they have been disabled on all the different clients. Dave Williams

Hi David, There is also something broken in Samba such that, when it asks for permission to add users/machines to the domain, it asks for the authorised user but will ONLY accept root. This means "root" also has to be added to smbpasswd. It is documented along with the W2k stuff. You will have to use encrypted passwords, too.
