Hi, For your information and edification ... A little cheerful news :) History: We have a number of elderly Tiny systems, fitted with AMD K5-100's in a Spear mainboard. Under Win'95, these occasionally undergo a partial chip failure - DOS is OK, Win3.11 is OK, Win'95 won't evel load. The cheap fix we've used so far is an Evergreen 200MX upgrade - but since Centaur (IDT Winchip) have gone offline, we can't get the machines fixed without a new mainboard + Chip + RAM. So two systems are currently down. The *good* news: Just to waste a few minutes, yesterday, I loaded SuSE onto one of the Windows-Dead systems. It lit up, loaded a GUI, and continues to run well. If many more of the old systems die soon, we'll be going completely over to Linux before schedule!! <wry grin> Regards, Paul. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Edgehill IT Department Email Service.
