hi the SIIA are a US-based trade association (like i guess BESA in the UK). Commercial orientated and really going nowhere (Microsoft and others agreeing on XML hmmmm). there are moves afoot in the UK within the e-envoys office to standardise on document formats etc, although i think the NHS has just moved away from going to XML-based approach, while the cabinet office has... no effect in the UK, as RM aren't members Malcolm On Monday 21 May 2001 12:29, kevin.taylor@powerconv.alstom.com wrote:
Does anyone know what affect the Schools Interoperability Framework is going to have on UK Schools (if any) ?
If there really is a push towards common data formats (XML) for tools within education, then this can only be good for open source solutions (I would say). Anyone looking into this?

(Thought I would mention it - I don't recall there being any comments about this in the past ... but could be wrong).
